The statistical information note on credit from the National Bank of Angola (BNA), released this Wednesday, indicates that public sector debt (public administration and companies) represented 11.6 percent.

The stock of credit to the economy, in national currency, reached 4.9 billion kwanzas in June, having registered an increase of 359.5 billion kwanzas in the first six months of the year.

The debt of the non-financial public sector increased by 28.7 percent compared to the same period last year and that of companies and individuals by 14.9 percent.

According to the BNA note, gross credit to the real sector of the economy totaled 1.29 billion kwanzas in May, a decrease of 50.48 billion kwanzas in relation to the previous period, "driven mainly by the slowdown in the allocation of resources to the subsector of agriculture, animal production, hunting, forestry and fishing".

The total credit granted by the BNA to promote the real sector reached 1.11 billion kwanzas, representing 86.17 percent of the total credit granted to this sector and 16.59 percent of the banking system's gross credit portfolio.
