"We have an expectation and there is an important aspect here that we would like to mention: there is, on the one hand, an effect of direct jobs that are related to all those who will be directly involved in the operation - be it port, be it railway - and there we are talking about around 2000 jobs and it is not something that will take a long time for us to achieve these numbers", said the official, in an interview with the Public Television of Angola (TPA).
Regarding the deadline for reaching the number of jobs, Ricardo D'Abreu said that "we are talking about five years".
"In five years, seven years, we manage to reach that value and obviously maintain it because they are the minimum needs of human capital to be able to manage an infrastructure of this nature", said the minister, in an interview with TPA.
"But it is important to reflect on what concerns the indirect potential that the Lobito Corridor itself represents in terms of our domestic economy and also in terms of the region", he added.
Among other aspects, the holder of the Transport portfolio also spoke about the perspectives related to the transport of goods: "We also have minimum references of cargo transport that we intend to take place in the corridor. thousand tons to one and a half million tons", he indicated, in declarations to TPA, adding: "The objective is to reach, at the end of the concession or in the final periods of the concession, the maximum volume of the infrastructure capacity which is five million tons".
It should be recalled that last Tuesday the ceremony was held that marked the transfer of the concession of rail services and logistics support for the Lobito Corridor.
