According to a statement from Sporting, to which VerAngola had access, the player "will live" his "first career experience abroad".

"Pedro Bondo joins Sporting Clube de Portugal for 2023/2024. The 18-year-old left-back arrives from Angola at CA Petro de Luanda, a club for which he was recently crowned two-time national champion, and will have his first experience of career abroad", reads the note.

Speaking to Sporting TV, mentioned in the statement, the Angolan said he was not waiting for the invitation from the Portuguese emblem, having shown himself happy. "I wasn't expecting [Sporting CP's invitation], when I found out I was very happy. I spoke to my parents and my family reacted well, my mother said 'go there and blow it'. Fortunately everything worked out and everyone was happy, I'm here to help", he said, quoted in the note.

Pedro Bondo also said that it was "a dream to wear" the green and white shirt, promising that the fans will be able to expect a lot from him: "It was a dream to wear this shirt and now I managed to make it come true. The fans can expect a lot from me," he said, quoted in the statement.

Regarding what lies ahead in Portuguese lands, the left-back also stated that he will make his "contribution to help the team".

"Great players like Cristiano Ronaldo have passed through here. I've already been told that Sporting CP bets a lot on young people and I'm one more, I'm going to make my contribution to help the team in the best way", he advanced, quoted in the statement.

Pedro Bondo will play for the 'leões' B team, having already started training.

"My teammates received me well, I found more Angolans in the squad", he pointed out, adding that he sees himself as an athlete who intends to "help his colleagues".

According to the statement, the Angolan player "is considered one of the great promises of Angolan football", having last season contributed to Petro de Luanda's title, with participation in 24 games "under the guidance of Alexandre Santos", whom he took advantage of to leave a word of thanks. "I want to thank coach Alexandre Santos because he helped me a lot to develop in the first team. I learned a lot from him", he said, quoted in the statement.
