The announcement was made this Monday by dstgroup, in a statement sent to VerAngola. "Dstgroup announced today [Monday] the opening of registration for the 5th edition of the Dstangola/Camões Literature Prize, in partnership with Camões, I.P, which, this year, is intended for poetry works by Angolan authors, published in the period from 2021 to 2022", reads the note.
The prize, worth 15 thousand euros and which will be paid in the corresponding amount in kwanzas, has applications open until September 1st, and those interested in participating can consult the regulation at http://pl.angola.dstsgps.com, informs the statement.
The choice of the winning work, adds the note, will be carried out by a jury "composed of José Mena Abrantes (president), Amélia Dalomba and David Capelenguela, who will be responsible for the analysis, choice and justification of the winning work".
The award ceremony will take place in Luanda, "at a date and time to be announced later".
This award, which aims to "distinguish, annually and alternately, books published in poetry and prose by Angolan artists, resident or not, with books published in the country or abroad, as long as they are in Portuguese", has already distinguished names such as Zetho Cunha Gonçalves, Pepetela, Benjamim M'Bakassy and Boaventura Cardoso.
"Since its creation, dstgroup has been committed to promoting literary creativity and cultural development in Angola. In addition to the dstangola/Camões Literature Prize, the company has supported culture and the arts, including through the creation of the dstangola reading room at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Luanda, which received thousands of books from the dstgroup, worth more than 12,500 euros, with an increase of six thousand euros planned, in each of the subsequent three years. Portuguese authors, Portuguese-speaking authors, technical books and literature, among many other genres", adds the statement.
