In addition to Angola, Standard Chartered is also expected to leave Cameroon, Ghana and Sierra Leone, also selling its retail, private and business unit in Tanzania.
Standard Chartered is also present in Mozambique, but there is no information about the possible inclusion of operations in this Portuguese-speaking country in the group of countries in which Access Bank will take over the operation.
"Access Bank will provide a broad range of banking services and continuity for key stakeholders, including employees and customers of the bank's businesses across five countries", Standard Chartered said in a statement.
The transactions are still subject to the approval of the Nigerian financial regulator.
