According to the institute's graph, the largest share of the population is women, corresponding to 16,938,633. While men are estimated at 16,147,645.
Comparing this year's data with that of 2017, it can be concluded that the population has grown: five years ago, the population was estimated at 28,359,634 inhabitants, while this year the projections are over 33 million.
According to Jornal de Angola, this evolution can be explained by the improvement in living conditions.
According to the data, cited by the same newspaper, the population is mostly young: estimates indicate that 21,475,348 people are under 25 years old.
In terms of area of residence, the urban area stands out, with 63.5 percent (ie 20,992,418 people) residing in urban areas.
Among the provinces with the highest concentration of population, the capital leads the list with 9,079,811 inhabitants.
The institute, quoted by Jornal de Angola, also mentions that there is a continuous growth of the young population and that their consumption needs (health, education, employment, among others) create pressure on society, increasing development challenges.
If, on the one hand, developed countries are struggling with population aging, Angola must take advantage of population growth, according to INE, quoted by Jornal de Angola.
In addition, the numbers indicate that the growth trend this year is positive and that the growth is linked to the decrease in the infant mortality rate in the last decade, among other aspects.
According to INE, growth projections for 2050 indicate that the country should have around 67 million inhabitants, if the assumptions used during the realization of the projections are maintained.
