Authorities expand search perimeter to locate five missing fishermen

The maritime authorities have extended the search perimeter to locate the vessel, with five fishermen on board, which has disappeared in the Namibe Sea since 21 June, the Civil Protection and Fire Service reported this Monday.

:

According to the spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, fire chief Félix Domingos, every effort continues to be made to locate the artisanal vessel, which set out to sea in Namibe province three weeks ago, with five fishermen on board.

Félix Domingos admitted the possibility of finding the missing people alive, stressing that the force of the sea may have displaced the fishermen to a territory where there is no possibility of communication.

"At this time, we are increasing the search perimeter so that we can see any sign that leads us to find these sailors," said the spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola.

The search operation involves forces from the Angolan Navy, the captaincy of the Port of Namibe and the Civil Protection and Fire Service.
