MPLA and UNITA measure forces Saturday lining up rallies in Luanda

The two biggest national parties, MPLA and UNITA, will hold, on Saturday, two rallies, which will take place almost simultaneously, in Luanda, capital and main square of the electoral dispute scheduled for 24 August.

Still in the pre-campaign phase, the two parties will try to convince voters, who choose on August 24 the President of the Republic and deputies for the National Assembly, that they deserve a vote of confidence to remain in power, in the case of the Movement Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), or that the time for alternation has come, such as the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA).

In a video that circulates on social media, the president of the MPLA and President of Angola, João Lourenço, who is re-candidate for a new term, announces a "big rally" for Luanda.

"I count on you young man, I count on you woman, I count on you Angolan, to talk about the present, but above all about the future of Angola", is the message that João Lourenço addresses to his supporters, preceding the political act that will take place in Camama.

UNITA, on the other hand, announces a "big alternation rally", preceded by a march, which begins at the Santana cemetery and ends at Largo das Escolas, where the leader of the "Black Rooster" party, Adalberto da Costa Júnior, will appeal to Angolans who choose to change.

More than 14 million Angolans will be able to vote this year, in which, for the first time, those living in the diaspora will also be able to exercise this right.
