According to Mansango Manuel Nlandu, head of the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Office, the 120 tons are divided into three major groups of fruit: avocado, citrus and pineapple.
Of the 120 tons of fruit, 60 tons are avocado, 35 tons are citrus and 25 tons are pineapple, he indicated.
Cited by Angop, the official added that normally these fruits are sent to Luanda, Benguela, Cuando Cubango and Bié.
Mansango Manuel Nlandu also took the opportunity to mention that an avocado is being sold, in the local market, for 100 kwanzas. Speaking to Angop, he explained that the plant of this fruit is capable of producing between 200 and 800 avocados and that these are resistant to drought.
Important factors that, according to him, have contributed in a positive way to the finances of the families affected by the drought.
In this sense, the office is working together with farmers so that the production areas are extended, he said.
