Built on the Cunene River, the Calueque Dam is located in the municipality of Ombadja, Cunene Province.
The dam began to be built between the years 1972 and 1974. However, in 1988 part of the dam was damaged due to the civil war that broke out in the country.
The Calueque Dam was designed to bring water to local populations, industry, farmers, among others.
The landscape is painted by the artificial lake of the dam and the various species of birds that live there in the waters of the river.
