Angola facilitates visas for foreigners from the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé

The government has created a mechanism to facilitate the granting of visas to foreigners who have a link to the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé (CEAST), according to legislation published in the Official Gazette.

In Friday's edition of the official organ of the Republic of Angola, a joint executive decree of the ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs was published which determines the creation of a mechanism to facilitate the granting of short stay and long stay visas to foreigners with ties to CEAST.

The measure comes in the wake of the Framework Agreement between the Republic of Angola and the Holy See that "requires the Angolan State to create conditions to facilitate the issuance of entry visas and the granting of stay permits to non-Angolan missionary personnel," reads the official bulletin.

The executive decree determines that these foreigners with ties to CEAST will be granted short-stay visas for a maximum period of up to five days and long-stay visas for a maximum period of up to 30 days.

The same legislation indicates that "missionaries holding temporary stay visas may apply for temporary residence permits within three years of the granting of the visa."

"Missionaries holding temporary residence permits may apply for permanent residence permits after 10 consecutive years of temporary residence," reads the Official Gazette.
