Angolan President laments the untimely death of General Nguto

This Thursday, President João Lourenço expressed regret for the death of General Jorge Barros Nguto, considering that his loss was premature and leaves family, friends and comrades-in-arms dismayed.

The former Deputy Chief of Staff Deputy General of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) for the Operational and Development area died at dawn on Wednesday in Luanda, victim of illness.

"With great regret I received the disgraceful news of the death of General Jorge Barros Nguto, who for 47 years served the armed wing of the Angolan people," wrote João Lourenço, in a note released by his press services.

Having taken the Armored Troops Higher Course in Russia, General Nguto held important positions in the Angolan Armed Forces, including that of deputy to the Chief of the General Staff for the Operational and Development Area and Chief of the General Staff of the Army .

"His premature loss, when much could still be given to the Angolan homeland, dismays his family, friends and comrades-in-arms. I express my deepest condolences to all", concludes João Lourenço.
