Expressing satisfaction for the conquest of another African Handball Championship, João Lourenço said that "the Angolan people have no words to thank for this achievement of the women's handball team".
"I remember having already received you here at the Palace on another occasion. I hope that this opportunity will be given to me more times, as long as I am inclined of this house", he added.
In order to improve the team's participation in the world championship, the head of state assured the continuous support to the national team: "We thank you, Madam Minister, for making sure that we receive in time all the constraints that the national team will encounter until the world championship. Whatever depends on us, we are here to solve", he said.
According to the note of the Executive, at the tribute ceremony, José Amaral, president of the Angolan Handball Federation admitted that they could not have achieved this feat "without the helpful and multifaceted assistance of the Executive.
The responsible took the opportunity to thank the "warm message" that the President addressed to the team "right after winning the title. "Something that happened practically in real time. We were still in the dressing room celebrating such a difficult and important victory when we received your Excellency's comforting words", he recalled.
Representing the team, athlete Isabel Guialo, also recognized the Government's commitment to win the title. "We recognize that in addition to our commitment, there was a huge effort from the Angolan government, the direction of the Angolan Handball Federation, our partners and not forgetting the clubs 1.º de Agosto and Petro.
João Loureço received a handball and a jersey. The ceremony was witnessed by the Ministers of State, Minister of Youth and Sports and Secretaries of State for the sector, among other figures linked to the Executive.
