Benguela is a bet. Province receives industrial complex that will create more than a thousand jobs

The announcement is of a world reference project, which consists in the construction and operation of an industrial complex that will allow Angola to become – within a two-year goal – not only self-sufficient but also an exporter of sugar, soy flour, crude oil. soybean oil, sunflower and glucose.

The project is signed by Cart Empreendimentos, being implemented within the scope of the Production, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Support Program (PRODESI).

The industrial complex will consist of a factory to extract four thousand tons of soy per day or two thousand tons of sunflower a day; a sugar refinery with a refining capacity of three thousand tons per day; a glucose factory with a capacity of 500 tons per day; a silo center with a capacity of 300 thousand tons and a distribution center with 50 thousand square meters.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, the company informs that the project will provide the province with more than 1,000 direct jobs, "in addition to a significant increase in indirect jobs in the medium and long term."

They also state that the proposal is the result of a two-year business prospection, with state support through the Angola Development Bank, under the Deutsche Bank credit line, which guarantees the financing of the entire import component. of equipment, in the amount of 113 million euros (corresponding to 32.84 percent of the total cost).

Banco de Fomento de Angola will finance the local component, including infrastructure and civil construction works for the extraction plant, sugar refinery and other projects.

In addition, the implementation of a project of this dimension will bring a very positive socio-economic impact for the country", says Lisandro Filipe, spokesman for Cart.

In 2019, Cart had already invested in the province of Benguela, with the inauguration of an Industrial Park. This project enabled the company's growth to the current 3600 employees.

In this sequence, the person in charge revealed that the "very positive" results of the implementation and operation of the company's industrial complex provided conviction for the success of the new project.

"It will not only allow for the full and complete reimbursement of the financing granted by the BDA and BFA, but, fundamentally, it will enable the creation of new jobs and the development of other projects in the company's portfolio, among which we highlight the ongoing investment of six million dollars in the expansion of packaging lines, especially small packaging," he added.

Lisandro Filipe also stated that "Cart's commitment is with Angola and with Angolans, effectively contributing to the food and nutritional self-sufficiency of all citizens".
