Águas de Portugal Group (AdP) announced this Wednesday the signing of two contracts with the Ministry of Energy and Waters of Angola worth 10.5 million dollars.

:

In a statement sent to Lusa, AdP said that these two contracts are for technical assistance for the development of water supply and sanitation services and will be financed by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank.

One of the contracts is for technical assistance to Empresa de Água e Saneamento da Huíla (EASH), in the southern province of the same name, while the other is aimed at supporting the cities of Moçâmedes, Luena and Dundo.

The project in Huila is expected to last four years and will cover the municipalities of Lubango, Chibia, Matala, Jamba, Cacula and Quipungo, for a total of 1.6 million people.

This contract involves technical assistance to EASH for the capacity building of the company in the technical, financial and commercial areas.

The project in Luena, Dundo and Namibe has a duration of three years and intends to support the Ministry of Energy and Waters of Angola in the "implementation of the respective financing project, namely in the monitoring and management of the contract, in the financial management of the projects and in the environmental and social management of the projects".

To Lusa, the director of AdP International, Cláudio Jesus, considered that these contracts are "the fruit of a bilateral relationship model between states that goes back a long time.

"This is the result of a continued, persistent and very incisive work that the group has been doing with Angola and with all the decision-makers in this sector," he added.

These two contracts are in addition to two others that the group has in Angola until 2022, which include support for the management of the provincial water supply companies in Bengo and Cunene and represent around US$14 million, with funding from the African Development Bank.

The AdP Group has been operating in Angola since 2004, carrying out consulting, technical assistance, capacity building and training activities and operating and maintaining water supply systems.
