Emergency intervention on the access road to Luanda costs nearly 190 million kwanzas

The President authorized an “emergency contracting” procedure for the award of contracts valued at 189 million kwanzas for the containment of soil erosion in one of the main access roads to Luanda.

:

The contract for the containment of soil erosion, protection and stabilization of slopes on the Samba road, in Luanda province, is worth 180 million kwanzas and for inspection the value of almost 9 million kwanzas.

João Lourenço considers in a presidential order, to which Lusa had access, that the opening of the referred procedure should curb the risk of partial collapse of the Samba road, in the vicinity of the Samba Viaduct under construction, south/center of the city.

"Since this road has not been the subject of engineering work in recent times for the protection and stabilization of the slopes adjacent to the retaining wall, there is an urgent need to take advantage of the cacimbo period to carry out an emergency intervention", reads the dispatch.

According to the President, the said intervention should prevent the section, one of the structural routes and Luanda, from preventing the road traffic, due to the weather and eventual landslides that these may cause, in the next rainy season.

The minister of Public Works and Spatial Planning, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, will have the power, with the power to delegate, to carry out all decision-making and tutelary approval acts corresponding to works and inspection contracts.

The availability of financial resources for the implementation of the project and its registration in the Public Investment Program (PIP), according to the presidential order, will be the responsibility of the Minister of Finance.
