BNA revokes licenses of eight non-banking financial institutions

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) revoked the licenses of eight non-banking financial institutions, for inadequacy of the social capital and regulatory own funds to the established minimum and for inactivity for a period exceeding six months.

The BNA says, in a statement published on its website, that it has revoked the license of Angola Express Money - Sociedade de Remessas de Valores, Lda; Envio Transfer - Sociedade de Remessas de Valores, Lda; Fast Câmbio - Casa de Câmbios, Lda and Cotangola - Casa de Câmbios, S.A "due to the inadequacy of share capital and regulatory capital to the minimum established and for inactivity for a period exceeding six months.

The central bank has revoked the licenses of Jimbuku - Casa de Câmbios, Lda, WNJ - Casa de Câmbios, Lda and VS - Casa de Câmbios, Lda due to "repeated non-compliance with the rules governing their activity and inactivity for a period exceeding six months.

"We further inform that, due to the fact that it has not started its activity, within the legally established period, the National Bank of Angola recognises the expiry of the license of Unicrédito - Sociedade de Microcrédito, S.A," the statement said.

The BNA also explains that, "by virtue of the provisions of Article 320.3 of the Law on Financial Institutions," these eight institutions will be, "liquidated according to the judicial procedures generally applicable to commercial companies.
