The document, which provides a portrait of Angolan banking through the analysis of 26 banks that make up the financial system, reveals that, in 2020, the number of employees decreased by 2.9 percent (from 20,306 workers in 2019 to 19,722 in 2020).

"For the last two years, 2019 and 2020, there is a continuation of the decrease in the number of employees that has been carried out by the BPC [Saving and Credit Bank), with a decrease of about 2000 employees since 2018 BNI [Banco de Negócios Internacional] and ATL [Banco Millennium Atlântico] have also carried out a 'downsizing' program with a reduction of 218 and 103 employees compared to 2019, respectively.

The "Bank under Analysis" also points to a reduction in the number of branches, from 1767 in 2019 to 1606 in 2020, with the Savings and Credit Bank (BPC) standing out as the one with the most positions closed (60), followed by the BCI (35), BNI (30) and Banco Sol (29).

The consultant refers that the information on branches and employees for the years 2019 and 2020 resulted from public information available since, until the date of the study's preparation, ABANC (Associação Angolana de Bancos) had not made available data for these years.

The report did not include Banco Económico, as the respective financial statements for the year 2020 were not available at the date of this study.
