In a statement published on the consulate's website, the authorities recall that, in addition to citizens residing in the European Union and the Schengen area, "third-country nationals traveling for professional, study, meeting reasons will also be allowed family, for health or humanitarian reasons, according to the principle of reciprocity ".

"These cases must be validated by the Consulate General of Portugal in Luanda, by sending the request to consulado.luanda@mne.pt", the statement said.

"For reasons of sanitary control, all passengers on these flights are now required to present proof of a laboratory test for screening for SARS-CoV-2 infection, with a negative result, carried out in the last 72 hours before departure, under penalty of being refused entry into national territory ", says the consulate of Angola.

National and foreign citizens with "residency in Portugal who do not exceptionally carry the aforementioned test, will be subjected, upon arrival in Portugal, to the test at their own expense", warns the diplomatic representation of Luanda in Lisbon.

However, "foreign citizens in transit through Portugal bound for their countries are exempt from presenting proof of the covid-19 test, as long as they do not leave the international zone of the airport, unless the worsening of the epidemiological situation so determines", it adds up.

Last week, passengers on two flights from Angola and Mozambique were faced with the need to submit covid-19 tests on arrival in Lisbon.

Portuguese and European Union citizens were able to go to their homes, but those of other nationalities were forced to carry out the tests at the airport itself.
