Four foreign companies and one of Angolan origin are bidding for the concession, operation and management of the multi-purpose terminal at the port of Luanda, according to the proposals released this Wednesday.

The public tender launched on December 16 initially had expressions of interest from nine candidates, but only five submitted proposals: the Angolan Multiparque Terminal Link and the foreign Sifax Group (Nigeria), DP World (Dubai), ICTS International Container Terminal Services (Philippines) and the SAS / MPLFI MSC consortium.

At the opening of the proposals, the president of the public port company, Alberto Bengue, told the press that the winner will be known within 60 days.

Mandatory requirements for participation in the contest include, among others, the requirement for an average annual turnover for the last three fiscal years not less than the equivalent of 100 million dollars, a net asset of not less than the equivalent of 100 million dollars and paid-in equity not less than the equivalent of $ 25 million.

The initial deadline for submitting applications has been extended twice due to the covid-19 pandemic, a statement said.

The multi-purpose terminal at the port of Luanda is a port infrastructure dedicated to the simultaneous operation of general cargo and containers, has a 610 meter pier, a depth of 12.5 meters and has an area of 181,070 square meters with the capacity to move 2.6 million tons per year.
