According to a statement from Angonabeiro, cited by Angop, this first shipment - consisting of 56 tons of one kilo bags of Ginga Lobito coffee, in beans - represents the beginning of the export of Angolan coffee to Portuguese lands. The company's goal is to export 300 tons of coffee to Portugal, until the end of the year.
The note also says that this is not the first time that the company exports to Portugal, explaining that for some years had already been tested a pilot project that, meanwhile, was put on pause. However, the return to exports to Portugal is the first step of an ambitious plan: the company is already considering introducing Angolan coffee to other European countries.
José Carlos Beato, regional general manager for the international markets of Nabeiro Group, said that the company is very proud "of this international recognition of the quality of Ginga coffee that will be marketed in Portugal by Nabeiro Group".
This product "is aimed at modern distribution clients, so very soon Portuguese consumers will be able to taste the best Angolan coffee in their homes", he said.
Another of Angonabeiro's objectives is to bring 1,200 tons of green coffee to the headquarters of the Campo Maior Portugal group. This product will be used in the composition of the various lots produced by the Nabeiro group, including the well-known Delta Angola.
According to Angop, the bet on national coffee production and the reinforcement of exports aims to make the national economy grow, through the decrease in the number of imports.
