Teté António wants foreign investors to bet on product transformation in Angola

Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, argued that African countries, especially Angola, will give primacy to foreign investors who are thinking of investing in the production and processing of products in Africa.

Considering that African countries, in particular Angola, have a great agricultural potential, the minister admitted that the technological potential has yet to be attracted.

The holder of the Foreign Relations portfolio, who was speaking at the opening of the 9th meeting of the Strategic Triangle Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and Africa, to respond to the global crisis, said, cited by Angop, that for now it is crucial that these investors begin to transform their agricultural products on the African continent.

Téte António said it was necessary to change the current scenario from producer/exporter to producer/transformer and stressed that the idea of a free trade area in Africa goes back to the beginning of the desire to create the United States of Africa.

Intra-African trade is only 15 percent, with the aim of increasing levels of 19 percent in Latin America, 51 percent in Asia, 54 percent in North America and 70 percent in Europe, he said.

It is very important to make progress, he admitted, explaining that by 2050 Africa will represent 26 percent of the world's population, where it will have a large market and will be made up of a mainly young population.

The Brazilian Foreign Minister, Ernesto Araújo, said that "the will and specificity of the peoples of each country must be taken into account for the resolution of economic and social problems that are apparently common, but with different ways of solving them", exemplifying the information on covid-19 given by the states and that contrasted with the past by the WHO.
