Country registers one more death and 79 new cases of covid-19

The country registered another death and 79 new covid-19 infections this Wednesday, now totalling 1078 cases and 48 deaths, since the registration of the first case in the country in March, announced the Secretary of State for Public Health.

Franco Mufinda said all cases, aged between three months and 74 years, are from Luanda province, the focus of the pandemic.

He said the death occurred at the Military Hospital, a 30-year-old woman, but 35 people were recovered, totaling 301 cases recovered from the disease.

At this time, indicated the Secretary of State for Public Health, there are 729 active cases, with 22 people in serious condition, of which five with a critical condition, one of them in need of hemodialysis.

To date, a total of 33,575 tests have been performed, of which 1,930 have been reactive.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 660,000 lives and infected more than 16.7 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the centre of the pandemic in February, the American continent now has the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
