According to the information published on the INE website, the negative variation of the national economy was essentially determined by the negative performance of the activities of Commerce (-11.6 percent), Fisheries (-7.9 percent), Financial Intermediation Services .
Indirectly Measured (-7.9 percent), Diamond Mining (-5.2 percent), Financial (-5.1 percent) and Oil (-1.7 percent).
With regard to the activities that contributed the most, in terms of participation, and constituted important factors of the economy in the first quarter of 2020, the extraction and refining of crude oil and natural gas stood out with 33 percent, followed by Trade with 14 per cent, Construction with 12 per cent, Public Administration with 8 per cent, Other Services with 6 per cent, Real Estate and Rental Services with 6 per cent and Agribusiness and Forestry with 5 per cent.
INE adds, in the same note, that the quarterly national accounts will undergo methodological changes.
Of the 33 activities and 77 products in force, 38 activities and 145 products will appear, starting a new series.
Thus, the current series, 2002 - 2017, should be replaced by the new series, which begins in the years 2014 and 2015, to be published still in the third quarter of 2020, continuing the process of compiling the new series with the publication of the years corresponding to 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, at the beginning of 2021.
"Other improvements will be introduced in the calculation of the Quarterly GDP, such as the quarterly variation, after the seasonal adjustment process and the expenditure perspective, in that order", says INE.
