Police arrested 40 people in Luanda as accomplices to robberies of more than 20 vehicles

The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Luanda arrested 40 individuals, including three Guineans and one Nigerian, accomplices in vehicle theft and robbery, as well as accessories, including electronic license plates.

A SIC press release, to which the Lusa agency had access this Tuesday, states that the arrests took place as part of the actions to combat violent crimes in the country's capital, and that they also allowed the recovery of 26 vehicles.

The document stresses that the most affected areas are the municipalities of Luanda, in the districts of Samba (Gamek district), Maianga (district Martyrs of Kifangondo) and Ingombota, Viana (district Luanda Sul) and Kilamba Kiaxi (district Quintalão do Petro).

The SIC emphasizes that the detained citizens, aged between 19 and 48, are not the robbers, but the people who allegedly order and buy the stolen and stolen goods, and an investigation is still underway to capture the alleged perpetrators.

One of the detainees, a Nigerian national, presented as the principal and buyer of electronic plates, had in his possession 204 electronic plates of various vehicles, to be sold in his establishment for the sale of vehicle parts, located in the Post Office market.

According to the document, ten firearms were also removed from the possession of those involved, including eight AKM-type machine guns with sawed-off barrel and two pistols.

The investigations took place between 20 June and 12 July.
