For BNI, this distinction represents "the recognition of the intense work done on a day-to-day basis with companies and entrepreneurs in Angola," the bank said in a statement sent to VerAngola.
In the same note, the president of the BNI, Mário Palhares, considers that this "is an extremely important award".
He admits that this award not only "acknowledges the professionalism and commitment of the BNI Bank in supporting the country's economic agents, namely those who create and maintain small and medium-sized companies that play a relevant and indispensable role in the creation of direct and indirect employment", but also proves that in "difficult times" the BNI continues to be present, "contributing to growth and diversification of the economy".
The award was presented by IFC on Monday 6 July during the "IFC Regional Trade Finance Awards FY 2019 - Middle East and Africa" ceremony in Whashington, USA.
According to the note, BNI last year signed an agreement with IFC to extend the Global Trade Finance Program "which was in force between both institutions since July 2014".
In this regard, the bank has carried out "work to support companies in Angola, and consequent to the diversification of the economy, to the value of 30 million dollars, and there was an increase, in August last year, of this credit line to 50 million dollars".
It should be noted that the IFC has been working with "financial institutions in Angola that support credit to small and medium enterprises, under the Global Trade Finance Program, with the aim of supporting the business sector and, consequently, promoting economic diversification in the country.
