Auction of 36 diamonds yielded over 15 million dollars for Sodiam

The sale of 1,391.7 carats of diamonds generated 15.4 million dollars for the Angolan National Diamond Trading Company (Sodiam), the company announced this Thursday.

In a press release, the public company said that 36 rough diamond stones produced by the Somiluana, Lulo, Kaixepa, Tchegi, Chitotolo, Luele and Catoca Mining Companies were auctioned this Thursday, in an electronic auction.

Over the past seven days, evaluation sessions were held and the amount achieved exceeded the expected value by 18.5 percent, and the auction was attended by 41 companies from the world's main diamond markets and centers, he added.

Of the total amount collected, the highlights are the mines of Lulo, with 3.5 million dollars, Luele, with 3.1 million dollars, Catoca, with 2.4 million dollars, and Chitotolo, with two million dollars.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sodiam, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, quoted in the statement, highlighted “some improvement in terms of demand and prices”, which was confirmed in the result obtained in this auction, which “was better than expected”.
