According to a statement from CIPRA, which VerAngola had access to, the cultural event, which celebrated business ties between the US and Africa, served to close the day.
"The first day of the US-Africa Business Summit ended with a cultural gala in the courtyard of the old Fortress of S. Miguel, attended by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço", the statement reads.
The show's purpose was to showcase the "cultural wealth of Angola" in terms of music and dance.
"The evening, memorable in every way, served to essentially toast the participants of the business summit who had arrived from other places with a sample of Angola's cultural wealth, in terms of music and dance", points out CIPRA.
"The collection of works from various regions of the country was paraded across the stage, notably from the Nhaneka-Umbi, Lunda, Kongo, Umbundu and Kimbundu ethnolinguistic areas," the note adds.
In addition to the show, the President's day was also marked by several courtesy meetings with high-ranking officials participating in the summit.
On the occasion, João Lourenço held meetings with the presidents of the Republic of Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Botswana and Namibia.
"Other entities also congratulated the head of state, many of them representing the country responsible for the initiative to promote these summits, such as Trot Fitrel, Senior Official of the State Department's Africa Bureau; Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for African, Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs at the White House; and Florizelle Liser, Executive Director of the Corporate Council for Africa," notes another note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.
It is worth noting that the summit will continue until Wednesday in the country's capital.
