"It was with a deep sense of sadness that I learned of the death of the nationalist Brito Sozinho, whose life story is an example of dedication and commitment to the cause of the Angolan homeland", said João Lourenço, in his message of condolences addressed to the nationalist's family.

"While still very young, he left the country to join those abroad who were working in support of the struggle for national liberation", reads the message, released by CIPRA and to which VerAngola had access.

João Lourenço also highlights Brito Sozinho's diplomatic career: "After independence, he developed an active diplomatic career, having been ambassador to numerous African countries and the Nordic countries of Europe".

"I express my condolences to the entire grieving family and to all his friends and companions on the various fronts in which he served", concluded the President of the Republic.

The career of this prominent MPLA figure is notable for being one of the founders of the Angolan Revolutionary Student Movement abroad in the 1960s.

According to Angop, Brito Sozinho played an active role in the liberation struggle since 1959, when at just 18 years old he created, together with other people, the Clube Desportivo Ginásio, a mass strategy group linked to the MPLA focused on political education and cultural promotion among young people.

Also in politics, in the post-independence period, the nationalist was part of the group that founded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was ambassador to countries such as Tanzania, Sweden, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, etc.

In addition to politics, he was also involved in music, having, in 1962, been part of the musical group Kimbandas do Ritmo, which recorded an album in 1972 in Finland, writes Angop.
