Flow Hotel and Projeto Cambeú partner to protect sea turtles

A partnership agreement aimed at protecting sea turtles, preserving and educating the environment, as well as promoting sustainable practices for protecting biodiversity on the country's coastline was recently signed between Flow Hotel and Projeto Cambeú.

The director of the hotel located in Benguela expressed the hotel's pride in "supporting the Cambeú Project and actively participating in building a more sustainable future."

"Protecting our natural heritage is a collective responsibility. Flow Hotel Benguela is proud to support the Cambeú Project and actively participate in building a more sustainable future for our communities and marine ecosystems. We want our guests to not only experience the natural beauty of Benguela, but also contribute to preserving it. By supporting this project, we reinforce our mission of tourism with a purpose," said Márcia Costa, director of Flow Hotel Benguela, quoted in a statement sent to VerAngola.

In turn, Sónia Ferreira, project coordinator, considered that establishing partnerships with entities "genuinely committed to environmental protection is essential" to ensure the continuity of activities: "Establishing partnerships with institutions genuinely committed to environmental protection is essential to ensure the effectiveness and continuity of the actions developed. In a sector such as tourism, where connection with nature is one of the main assets, working side by side with partners aligned with the principles of sustainability is essential".

According to the statement, "the impact of the collaboration will reinforce the actions of the Cambeú Project, which have already allowed the hatching of more than 72 thousand hatchlings, the protection of 572 mother turtles, the implementation of more than 100 community actions and the training of 80 volunteers".

Furthermore, this collaboration also reinforces "Flow Hotel's positioning as a reference in sustainable tourism in Angola," says the note, which adds: "By associating itself with a highly relevant environmental cause, Flow not only contributes to the preservation of sea turtles, but also strengthens its involvement with the local community and offers its guests an experience aligned with environmental values."

Having worked tirelessly for eight years to defend sea turtles by combating threats such as illegal hunting, pollution and predatory fishing, the project for the period 2025/2026 "intends to carry out 150 night patrols, train 40 new volunteers, publish a scientific article and further increase environmental awareness in Benguela and Angola."
