In a statement, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture said that Carlos Fávaro discussed details of an agricultural integration and technology exchange plan between the two countries with his Angolan counterpart, Isaac dos Anjos, on Wednesday.
Meeting via videoconference, the two ministers discussed “details to advance the proposal that deals with the integration of Brazilian and Angolan agriculture, aiming at increasing food production to promote food and nutritional security,” the statement said.
The proposal discussed between the two countries includes the concession of arable land in Angolan territory and the transfer of Brazilian technology, the ministry specified.
“The ministers discussed topics such as adjustments to legislation to protect intellectual property and biosafety, allowing research into cultivars and better use of land; financing methods and legal security,” it added.
Brazil has carried out two official missions to Angola since December of last year, in which businesspeople and representatives of the productive sector were able to learn about the potential for the integration of tropical agriculture between the two countries.
With the conclusion of the technical adjustments, Brazil highlighted that a protocol of intentions will be drawn up to formalize the cooperation.
