According to a statement from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, to which VerAngola had access, the Angolan ship docked at the Port of Lympia, in Nice (France), late Sunday afternoon.
"The ship was received by the advisor to the Prefect Sebastien Swtca, from the city of Nice, and the Angolan delegation led by the Secretary of State for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Álvaro Cândido dos Santos", reads the note.
The participation of the Angolan ship in UNOC3 "highlights Angola's commitment to marine conservation and the blue economy", says the statement, which adds that, during the event, "results of research campaigns will be presented to emphasize the importance of scientific research in the sustainable management of marine resources".
This initiative aims to "reinforce Angola's position in global ocean governance and promote international collaborations in research and capacity-building projects", as well as "align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 14, which deals with the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources".
According to the Ministry, the ship "is receiving numerous visitors of different nationalities as part of its participation in the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC3), serving as a space for meeting, dialogue and dissemination of initiatives linked to the protection and conservation of resources".
