Trade between Mozambique and Angola exceeded 85 million dollars in 2024

Mozambican businesspeople estimated that trade with Angola will reach 85 million dollars in 2024, namely in aluminum, wood and fuels, but they stress that they are below potential.

:

"Although they are still below their true potential, trade relations between Mozambique and Angola have been growing. In 2024, trade between the two countries reached around 85 million US dollars", reads a statement from the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA), released on the visit of a group of 20 Angolan businesspeople to Mozambique.

According to the CTA, during 2024, Mozambique exported mainly agricultural products, aluminium, timber and light industry products, while Angola exported fuels, manufacturing goods and specialised services.

The vice-president of the CTA, Amândio Gume, quoted in the document, argued that these figures "can and should be multiplied" through the promotion of cross-investment, joint ventures, technology transfer and integration of regional value chains between the two countries.

At this meeting, the CTA presented sectors with potential for cooperation with Angola, "including agriculture, where Mozambique has more than 36 million hectares of arable land, abundant water resources and a climate conducive to diversified production", but also industry and construction, highlighting "investments in special economic zones, housing and logistics and urban infrastructures", as well as energy or tourism, exemplifying "with one of the most preserved and richest coastlines in southern Africa", and services.

In her speech, the statement describes, the president of the Angola-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIAM), Célia Cipriano, said that this business mission "is just the beginning of a new stage of cooperation, with a focus on the internationalization of Angolan companies".

"In the contacts, the delegation identified some opportunities. The next step is to seek to transform intentions into investments and investments into real impacts for the people of both countries", she concluded, highlighting "the good collaboration that exists between the CTA and the CCIAM".
