Hungary will provide a maximum of fifty annual scholarships to Angolans to study in that European country, whether in Hungarian or in a foreign language. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, this is a memorandum between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on cooperation within the scope of the Stipendium Hungarucum Program for the period 2024-2026.

"Within the scope of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program, the Government of the Republic of Hungary offers a maximum of 50 annual scholarships to citizens of the Republic of Angola to carry out studies in Hungary, either in Hungarian or in a foreign language", reads the statement.

This document, the note adds, aims to "facilitate, in the long term, the extension of cooperation, thus contributing, in the interest of the development of a knowledge-based society, to a mutually beneficial collaboration in the field of higher education".

In addition to this agreement, the two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of political consultation mechanisms between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

This agreement aims to establish political consultation mechanisms on "matters relating to relations between the two countries, as well as the exchange of opinions on topics of mutual interest at a regional and international level".

In general, the two memorandums – which were signed by Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Peter Szujjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary – aim to "establish a more ambitious and fruitful cooperation, confer and attribute strategic relevance and solemnity to the existing cooperation between the two countries".

In the end, the two ministers left the recommendation that cooperation between Angola and Hungary "be increased at the most varied levels of political, diplomatic, economic and commercial life".
