This new system was presented by the institute, in collaboration with the Brazilian Storm and Atmospheric Discharge Monitoring Center, on the last day of Angotic, more specifically last Saturday, at the Talatona Convention Center, where the event took place, according to a statement of INAMET, to which VerAngola had access.
It was up to the CEO of the Brazilian Storm and Atmospheric Discharge Monitoring Center, Iara Mazzei Trindade, to make the presentation, in a session where the Head of the Climate and Climate Change Division of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and representative of the FRESAN project, Ricardo Deus, was also present.
On the occasion, Ricardo Deus highlighted the "importance of a thunderstorm warning system in light of climate change that influences the greater occurrence of storms".
This Monday, in a clarification session on 'Seismic Occurrences', promoted by the government of Huambo, the general director of INAMET, João Afonso, said that there are fast seismic warning systems with automated performance. Cited by Angop, he also said that the installation of various equipment is underway in the country to provide alerts in real time and more quickly, so that citizens can find safe areas in the event of an earthquake, at a time when made themselves felt in some areas of the country.
On the occasion, he pointed out that since 2019, the Executive has installed alert systems in Bengo, Cuanza Sul, Huíla and Moxico, to which Huambo joins, whose alert system began operating this Monday, in Caála, adding that after the municipality of Caála are Benguela (Ganda) and Huíla (Chicuma).
