Paulo Rangel was speaking to journalists in Luanda after a meeting at the Presidential Palace with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with whom he discussed the visit to Angola of the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, from 23 July and the current moment "of excellence" of bilateral relations.
Regarding Luís Montenegro's arrival, he highlighted that it will have an economic nature and intends to promote dialogue between Angolan and Portuguese businesspeople to reinforce investment in Angola.
"Cooperation is alive and recommended", highlighted the head of Portuguese diplomacy.
When asked about updating the immigration policy, Rangel stressed that neither the law nor the mobility agreement had been changed, with four priorities being listed, the first being the mobility of CPLP citizens.
"All CPLP citizens have privileged treatment because there is this mobility agreement that is meant to move forward, deepen and make it work better", he highlighted.
He acknowledged, on the other hand, that "the granting of visas takes time and that" there are bottlenecks", meaning that Portugal will deploy 45 specialists to the CPLP consulates "to speed up these processes to make CPLP mobility effective".
"Portugal is in dire need of labor and our brotherly countries must have priority", he highlighted.
He also said that the Portugal-Angola Social Security reciprocity agreement is also on the agenda of the bilateral talks he will hold with his Angolan counterpart, Téte António, stressing that mobility also involves "making it easier for people to know that in the future, if they leave from working or getting sick, they will have their social rights".
