According to a note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the approximately 20 heads of state who were present at the event were also joined by vice-presidents, prime ministers and other heads of delegations.

Furthermore, the ceremony was "also very representative of the number of local entities that witnessed the historic event, including politicians, men from academia, culture, sport, science and religious denominations".

"The head of state, at the head of one of the more than forty invited foreign delegations, disembarked the day before in South African territory to witness the historic event, which he also did in his capacity as Acting President of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)", says CIPRA.

It should be noted that, last Friday, Cyril Ramaphosa was re-elected for a second term.
