Costa received by João Lourenço on Monday after arriving in Luanda

The Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, will be received by the President, João Lourenço, on Monday morning, shortly after arriving in Luanda, a meeting that will be the first point of his two-day official visit to Angola.

According to the provisional programme, António Costa is scheduled to arrive at the Presidential Palace at 11:00 am, with a welcome greeting by the head of state, João Lourenço.

After military honours, the national anthems of the two countries and a review of the troops, António Costa and João Lourenço have a meeting alone, followed by an "opening ceremony of official talks" between the executives of Portugal and Angola.

At the end of the morning, the head of state and the Portuguese prime minister preside over a ceremony for the signing of legal instruments and make statements to the press.

In an interview with the Lusa agency and the Expresso newspaper, the President of the Republic highlighted one of the agreements that will be signed in Luanda during the visit of António Costa and which foresees an increase in the financing line from 1.5 billion euros to two billion euros. An agreement that was negotiated in early April, during a visit by the Portuguese Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina.

This permanent line of financing guarantees payment to the company in the event of default by the Angolan State and makes it possible to finance projects defined in Angola.

According to João Lourenço, export credit "encourages Portuguese companies to travel to Angola, as they feel more comfortable and with the guarantee that what they come to Angola to do is covered by this credit".

Still on the first of two days of official visit to Angola, after the lunch offered by the Angolan head of state, the Portuguese Prime Minister visits "Casais de Angola" in the Industrial Pole of Viana and the ACAIL facilities.

The last point of the first day's program is a reception offered by the prime minister to Portuguese businessmen in Angola, at the Hotel Epic Sana in Luanda, at 6:30 pm.

On the last day in Luanda, António Costa visits the Angolan headquarters of CGD, the Fortress of São Francisco do Penedo and the Portuguese School of Luanda.

In the middle of the afternoon, the Prime Minister leaves for Johannesburg, where, on Wednesday, he will join the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in the celebrations of the Day of Portugal with the Portuguese community residing in South Africa.
