Authorities arrest suspected of slaughter and sale of dog meat

A 58-year-old Angolan woman was arrested in Luanda for slaughtering and selling dog meat, announced this Monday the spokesman for the National Directorate for Investigation of Criminal Offenses (DIIP) of the National Police.

According to Chief Inspector Quintino Ferreira, the citizen was arrested in the Golf 1 neighbourhood, sector 16, Kilamba Kiaxi municipality, in Luanda, following a complaint, and the seller was found selling dog meat on the spot.

The police say that huge amounts of dog meat were found and also seven more live dogs that were waiting for the moment to be slaughtered.

"The 58-year-old citizen in question is already in custody and will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office for the due legal procedures as a result of this crime against human consumption", stressed the corporation official.
