According to the statistical information note on credit from the National Bank of Angola (BNA), consulted by Lusa, 90.37 percent of the figure represented the indebtedness of the private sector (private companies and individuals) and 9.63 percent the indebtedness of the public sector (public administration and public companies).
The note highlights that the debt of the non-financial public sector totaled 497.12 billion kwanzas in this period, of which 51.81 percent referred to public administration and 48.19 percent to public companies, representing an increase of 84.51 billion kwanzas.
Regarding the private sector's debt, it registered an increase of 379.72 billion kwanzas, from 4.29 billion kwanzas in May 2022 to 4.67 billion kwanzas in May of the current year.
"Being that the indebtedness of non-financial private companies corresponded to 3.68 billion kwanzas with an increase of 231.31 billion kwanzas and the indebtedness of individuals corresponded to 980.69 billion kwanzas", refers in the note.
In the domain of the real sector, in May 2023, gross credit to the non-financial sector allocated to the real economy totaled 1.26 billion kwanzas, representing 24.24 percent of the total gross credit of the banking sector.
Gross credit granted under BNA notices to promote the royal sector totaled 878.09 billion kwanzas, which corresponded to 69.66 percent of total credit to the royal sector.
Also according to the central bank, housing loans granted to individuals, in the period under review, totaled 168.57 billion kwanzas, of which 52.59 billion kwanzas were granted under notice n.º 09/2022 of April 6th.
