More than a hundred jobs created with the start-up of the Kilamba bus terminal

The entry into operation of the Kilamba Interprovincial and Urban Passenger Bus Terminal – inaugurated this Wednesday by Jorge Bengue, Secretary of State for Land Transport – enabled the creation of a total of 187 jobs.

The new terminal will alleviate urban mobility by serving as an interprovincial union, with a set of means of transport equipped to guarantee travel, said Jorge Bengue, quoted by Angop.

On the occasion, the official also mentioned that a tender for space exploration will be launched. However, he clarified that the infrastructure is available to all operators.

"The launch of a public tender for the exploration of space is in the pipeline, but the enclosure is available to all road operators", he said, without revealing more details or dates.

According to Angop, the new terminal was built from scratch and is the result of an investment of around two billion kwanzas. The infrastructure is expected to help improve road mobility and simplify boarding and disembarkation of buses, and it is estimated that it will accommodate, on average, around 2000 passengers annually.

According to a note from the Ministry, sent to VerAngola, the Kilamba terminal has 13,764 square meters and comprises ten embarkation and disembarkation bays, eight parking spaces for buses, two checkpoints, six ticket offices and a waiting area with about 200 seats.

"A room for the executive service, information post, inspection and storage office, administration and observation area, support area for drivers and employees, dormitories, sanitary facilities and a living area", are also part of the space, the note said.

The note also mentions that this terminal will offer its customers "policing and first-aid station services, exclusive parking for vehicles, cargo dispatch, post office, luggage storage, an area for the installation of bank branches, informal commerce and an internal area for trade facility".

Alongside this terminal, it is estimated that within the next few months, as part of the Ministry of Transport's strategy to improve mobility, the terminals in Huambo and Cuanza Norte will be inaugurated.
