This step enables the next stages of the electoral process, which involves the analysis and validation of the parties' candidacies for the 24th of August general elections.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony, which was attended by the president of the Constitutional Court and the president of the National Electoral Commission, the director of the Office of Political Parties of the Constitutional Court, Mauro Alexandre, said that this is another important step in the tasks of the electoral process.

"In order for the TC to be able to assess and validate the various applications, it must have received the definitive computer file with the data of the older citizens. Upon receipt of this definitive file, the next act will be to evaluate the data contained in the file for, in a second At the moment, proceed with the integration and import of this data to the TC database, for the purpose of validating the applications", said the official.

With this file, the TC "is able to cross-reference the data of older citizens with that of the candidacies and verify situations of duplicity both in relation to candidates and in relation to subscribers (supporters) of the candidacies.

"In certain situations, we may have the case of a specific application having its data duplicated. If there are situations of this kind, only the support given to the application that first enters the TC will be validated", explained Mauro Alexandre.

So far, only the MPLA has submitted its candidacy, although 13 parties are eligible to apply.

In case of failures, the parties that do not pass the initial sieve of the TC will have a period of ten days to correct the irregularities or inadequacies of their candidacies, according to the same official.

The CNE spokesman, Lucas Quilundo, said that, for the CNE, the receipt of this file is also of important significance, as it is from this moment that the procedures relating to the electoral act will be triggered.
It is on the basis of this file that the CNE will establish the number of polling stations to be set up, as well as the accreditation actions of the various electoral agents, he said.

The file contains 14,399,391 eligible citizens to vote in the general elections of 24 August 2022, including about 18,000 Angolans residing in the diaspora.

From the initial list, citizens who did not reach 18 years of age by the 24th of August, the deceased and those who are prevented for legal reasons, such as those serving a prison sentence after the sentence has become final, were expunged.

Lucas Quilindo also confirmed that an audit had been carried out on the computer file, having been selected, by international public tender, an entity (Intelera) "that satisfied the necessary requirements".

The file audit can be completed up to 15 days before the scheduled election day.

Before arriving at the TC, the Computer File of the Senior Citizens (FICM) was delivered to the CNE this morning by the Minister of Territory Administration, Marcy Lopes, the entity responsible for the unofficial electoral registration process.
