Minister of Culture mourns the death of writer Dario de Melo

The Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, lamented and expressed dismay at the death of writer Dario de Melo, aged 86, which took place on Sunday, in the province of Benguela.

Dario de Melo, who was born on December 2, 1935, has worked in various professions, including a teacher, journalist and writer, radio announcer, agricultural manager, school inspector, editor at the National Institute of Books and Records and an employee at the Ministry of Information. .

He has a vast body of work published in the field of children's literature, with more than 18 titles, among which "As Sete Vidas de um Gato" stands out, with which he won the PALOP'98 Portuguese Language Prize for Children's Literature.

In a note of condolences, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Filipe Zau addressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

The Union of Angolan Writers also mourned the death of the writer, a member of the organization, in which he served as chairman of the board of the general assembly between 1992 and 1994.
