Angola becomes African champion in women's handball

The national senior women's handball team won the African Nations Championship (CAN) of the sport last Friday. The 'Pearls of Africa' won their 14th trophy after defeating hosts Cameroon 25-15.

Besides the gold, the national player Albertina Cassoma also received another title: the athlete was considered, for the third consecutive time, the best anchor of the African continent.

The national team arrives in the country this Monday with gold on its chest. The selection is expected in the capital starting at noon.

According to a note from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, cited by Angop, the selection will be received by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, in the protocol room of the International Airport, February 4.

Afterwards, a tour will be made through several areas of the city, ending at the Dr. António Neto Memorial, where the champions will be honored.

With this conquest, the country now holds the trophy in definitive and is also qualified for the World Championship, which will take place in December in Spain.
