Handball: Women's national team disputes place in the final this Wednesday

The national senior women's handball team will try, this Wednesday, to reach the final of the African Nations Championship (CAN), which is being held in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

After beating Democratic Congo, this Tuesday, June 15, by 29-20, in the quarter-finals of the competition, the 'Pearls of Africa' will now fight for a place in the final of the CAN.

To qualify for the final, Angola will face this Wednesday, June 16, the selection of Tunisia. The semi-final will take place at the Sports Palace of Yaoundé, starting at 15h30.

About the victory on Tuesday, against Democratic Congo, the former captain of the national team, Marcelina Quiala, said that this "was an expected victory.

One of the reasons that led the 'Perólas de África' to win has to do with the fact that most of the national team players have grown up in the country, she said, quoted by Angop.

Marcelina Quiala also said that the country has a more balanced and stronger team at the technical level and indicated that the speed applied in the match, technical ability of the players and good moments of the goalkeepers allowed Angola to win.

About this Wednesday's game, the former national team captain gave preference to Angola, which is fighting for the 14th continental trophy.
