Traffic accidents cause four dead and 13 injured over the weekend in Luanda

Police recorded four deaths and 13 injuries from a total of 17 accidents in Luanda province over the weekend, which also resulted in damage valued at more than 10 million kwanzas.

According to the balance sheet of the Luanda provincial command of the National Police, within the scope of the regularization and supervision of automobile traffic, two vehicles were seized, 56 motorcycles, and fines were applied to 513 citizens for various violations of the Highway Code.

During the period under review, six firearms were also seized, of the AKM machine gun type, and 120 citizens were arrested as presumed authors of various crimes.

The spokesman of the Luanda provincial command of the National Police, Nestor Goubel, pointed out the occurrence of 13 crimes of physical integrity offenses, using firearms, stabbing weapons and blunt objects.

"National citizens aged between 21 and 47 were arrested for the presumed authorship of the crime", said the official, stressing that the facts occurred in the municipalities of Luanda, Belas, Viana, Cazenga, Kilamba Kiaxi, Cacuaco, Talatona and Icolo and Bengo.

Nestor Goubel stressed that investigations are continuing in order to identify and arrest the fugitive elements.
