In a note sent to Lusa, the Portuguese embassy in Angola states that the promotion of blood donation in the provinces of Luanda, Benguela and Huíla will count on a partnership with the National Blood Institute (INS).

According to the Portuguese embassy, it is in this "symbolic form" that the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities will be celebrated "valuing the cooperation between Portugal and Angola" and "demonstrating the solidarity of the Portuguese".

The initiative will take place under the motto "June 10, 2021 - Being Together, It's in the Blood" and the Portuguese in Angola say they are "aware" that Angola needs 300,000 voluntary blood donations a year.

"With this painless gesture, without risk or damage to the health of donors, we want to contribute to saving lives in a simple, peaceful and safe way", underlines the note.

In Luanda, the initiative will take place from 10 to 13 June, between 8 am and 2 pm, at the facilities of Camões - Centro Cultural Português, and in the provinces of Benguela and Huíla, from 10 to 14 June, at the respective central hospitals.
