The information was released at the end of the two-day visit by the head of state of Botswana, where he held a meeting with the Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda.

"Fortunately, I was able to discuss issues of common interest with my counterpart and reach various consensus that will later be leveraged by the two foreign ministers," he said.

The President of Botswana said that the cooperation between the two countries is strengthened and that they are increasingly willing and eager to continue to cooperate, says a government statement to which VerAngola had access.

The two Heads of State addressed exchanges in the sectors of Agriculture, Tourism, Education, Culture and Geology and Mines, as well as issues related to research, innovation and combating covid-19, according to President Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi.

The two countries, he added, intend to cooperate in the production of animal and human vaccines.

In the margins of the meeting between the two Heads of State, the ministerial delegations of Angola and Botswana worked together to identify specific areas of bilateral cooperation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, reiterated the desire of the two countries to strengthen cooperation. "As you know, since 2016, a bilateral commission meeting between the two countries has not taken place. Therefore, we decided to relaunch this cooperation. We have scheduled a meeting in early July and identified areas of interest for both countries," he said.

According to Teté António, cooperation will be focused on areas where the two countries have comparative advantages and that facilitate the implementation of concrete actions.

"We do not need to make a long list of areas of cooperation, but to put an emphasis on those areas where we know that the two countries have comparative advantages that can make us have concrete actions," he explained.
