Covid-19: Angola with four deaths and 195 new infections in the last 24 hours

Angola has recorded four covid-19-associated deaths and 195 new infections of the new coronavirus, in addition to 102 recovered, in the past 24 hours, health authorities said Thursday.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, the positive cases were reported in 11 of the 18 Angolan provinces, namely Luanda (122), Huambo (33), Benguela (9), Cunene (7), Uige (7), Huíla (7), Namibe (6), Cabinda (1), Kwanza Sul (1), Malanje (1) and Moxico (1), 103 males and 92 females, aged between 2 months and 85 years.

The deaths, all males, aged between 5 and 76 years, were registered two in Cabinda, one in Benguela and one in Huila, and the recoveries were verified 85 in Luanda, seven in Huambo, five in Malanje, three in Huila and two in Cunene, in people aged between 1 and 78 years.

With the update of this Thursday, the country totals 37,289 positive cases, of which 851 deaths, 31,105 recovered, having active 5333 cases, of which 17 in critical condition, 25 severe, 31 moderate, 34 mild and 5226 asymptomatic, being in hospitalization 116 patients, in institutional quarantine and under epidemiological surveillance 2383 contacts.

The laboratories processed 2352 samples by RT-PCR, pointing the cumulative to 622,532 samples processed with a positivity rate of 6 percent, while at the entry and exit points of Luanda province 367 people were tested on the basis of the antigen test.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,835,238 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 176.9 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
