During the afternoon of July 4, eleven speakers will participate in five conversations, each preceded by a screening of the film "Dark skin - from the periphery to the center", which will have an extra presentation at 8pm, the organization announced.

Based on an original idea by musician and chronicler Kalaf Epalanga, the film represents the journey from the periphery to the center of a group of friends of African descent, inscribed in the white landscape and its outer marks of prosperity.

The story revolves around six black friends from different places on the outskirts of Lisbon - Porto Brandão and Cacém - who decide to go to the Centro Cultural de Belém to see a show.

By alternating our gaze between one and the other's journey, we get to know what they think and feel as they head towards the city, Lisa, as they call it.

A film that is "a reflection about center and periphery, blacks and whites, racism and inclusion," according to the CCB.

After the screening of this fifteen-minute film, in the CCB's Grand Auditorium, several conversations are scheduled to reflect on the themes that the film addresses, from different perspectives and approaches.

To this end, speakers from different areas of knowledge have been invited, such as urban planner and researcher António Brito Guterres and architect Ricardo Bak Gordon, who will lead the first conversation at 3:30 pm.

An hour later, actress and director Zia Soares will be in conversation with singer Selma Uamusse, followed by sociologist Karina Carvalho and journalist Paula Cardoso.

At 6:30 pm, sociologist and founder of the Angola Reflection platform Manuel Dias dos Santos and professor and historian Diogo Ramada Curto will discuss the theme.

The last conversation of the day will be led by the director and the director of actors of the film, Graça Castanheira and Meirinho Mendes.

All conversations will be moderated by Angella Graça, president of the board of INMUNE - Instituto da Mulher Negra em Portugal.
